NRA, Guns and Mental Illness

I'm finally starting to track with the NRA in at least one regard, they want to keep guns out of the hands of the mentally ill. Having seen quite a few postings on social media, I've discovered there is a vast and growing number of people out there suffering from mental illness.  They are delusional and paranoid - these folks don't trust our democratically elected officials, military or even the police force. Alarmingly, these are the same hysterical people who are now rushing to buy even more guns, thinking they personally need to be able to take on the police force and the US military. The military alone is currently funded at $550 billion/year. 

Seems this group of people ought to be some of the first in line voting to reduce our military spending, wouldn't you think? It might at least give them more of a fighting chance!
