Simply built bird nests and our homes

Wintry bird's nest
Isn't it amazing how birds can build their nests with just some twigs? As in most all of nature, with the exception of humans, bird and animal homes are simply made, all of natural materials.  When the nest has fulfilled its purpose it gracefully decomposes.  Sadly, this will never be said of a vinyl clad housing.

In the Bible Jesus reminded his disciples not to over build... "Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? "    -Matthew 6:26

Decomposing bird's nest
Being the carpenter that he was, I'm thinking Jesus would be encouraged to see homes now being built smaller than before. Seems we could learn something from the birds.... in addition to flying south for the winter ;-)

Bird's nest by park bench
The Bird's Nest built for the 2008 Olympic games in Beijing cost a whopping $423 million to build.  Of course, it can also accommodate 91,000 people.  I think we people deserve the extreme creature award.  We sure know how to take everything to the max!
