Fix it, don't nix it!

Repair should be added to the list of Reduce, Reuse and Recycle according to Annie Leonard, the founder of The Story of Stuff.  She discussed repairing things with Kyle, the founder of IFixit.com.

Have you noticed how most electronics have become throw away items?  Once things quit working or become outdated they are now quickly discarded. Consider how how often people now toss away computers, VCRs, DVDs, microwave ovens, cell phones, etc.  What a huge waste it it to throw all of these things out when things could be repaired! IFixIt helps people to repair things by providing hundreds of instruction manuals.

Annie Leonard also interviewed Eric Wilhelm, the founder of Instructables.com, about how to make your own things, rather than simply being a consumer. This website provides instructions for people who want to make their own things.
